For #2 position on the Greens Legislative Council ticket

I’m on the ground as an elected member. I’m already doing the work and making change. I want to keep fighting for our community and environment at a state level.

I have the dedication, community support, and experience as an elected member and candidate, to win it for our movement.

We need strong Greens voices for an equal and fair democracy.

Proven Capability

Let’s get two more MPs in the Legislative Council.

South Australia is such a beautiful, diverse place. It’s a privilege to be a current elected member in local government here on Kaurna Land.

This is a turning point for our state. We are in the middle of our worst drought in recorded history. We’ve seen toxic algal blooms washing up dead sealife before our eyes. Climate change is hitting us hard, and now more than ever, South Australians can see the impact.

Local communities are sick of seeing the profits of billionaire corporations prioritised over our interests. Voters are seeking trusted Greens voices to stand up for our environment and the cost of living to make sure the needs of all South Australians are met, not just the privileged few.

This state election, with just a few thousand more votes, the Greens have a good chance of securing two more MPs in the Legislative Council.

Proven elected member and Greens candidate experience

I’m an active local councillor and campaigner

Through my work as a current elected member within the City of Marion and in stepping up to the plate as Greens candidate for the Black by-election, I’ve shown I can turn our progressive Greens ideas into action.

As Greens candidate in the Black by-election in 2024, I was able to foster a strong swing to the Greens despite cash-splashed campaigns by the major parties.

In my local council campaign in 2022, I won comfortably in a field of 6 candidates, including outpolling the incumbent councillor.

I’ve gained prominent media coverage on national and local television and even in the international press, as well as speaking multiple times on local radio stations. I know how to field tough questions, speak authentically, and stand up for our principles.

I have championed biodiversity, tree protection, reconciliation, public transport, the voices of young people, the Arts, renewable energy, libraries, open space protection, health and wellbeing, as well as strategies to address the housing crisis. I’ve saved community land from developers, introduced a library of things, supported the roll-out of a community solar savings scheme, pushed for more EV charging stations, and won traffic safety measures.

I have chaired council’s Infrastructure and Environment Committee; I am delegate to the Adelaide Coastal Councils Network (ACCN) where I’ve advocated for investigation into addressing microplastic pollution; and I am delegate to the council Finance, Risk and Audit Committee, where I’m pushing for sustainable procurement and financial management.

I have a proven ability to build strong, progressive policy and initiatives, working eloquently, genuinely, and from the heart, in a way that brings people on board and builds support both in the media and in the chamber.

Strong career experience

As an experienced principal and clinical psychologist leading teams across various government agencies, as well as private practice, I’ve seen the effects of inequality at a grassroots level.

Through my work right across the state, from Mt Gambier to Ceduna, I understand the diversity of challenges and opportunities we face.

I’ve seen how health and mental health, disability, intergenerational trauma, education, and other areas intersect, and impact people and communities.

My on-the-ground experience within health, child protection, disability, environmental, and education settings helps me understand how government systems work and know where we can make effective change.

I’m a committed Greens member, volunteer and activist

I have been a highly committed and active Greens member since 2018, spending countless hours on the ground campaigning on the doors, on the phone, at rallies, and at polling booths.

I’ve volunteered across a wide range of active roles within the SA Greens at a branch, state and national capacity, including as SA policy delegate to the national policy committee. I understand how different aspects of our Party can work together to create change.

Through building a grassroots collaborative approach, I am committed to developing a fair, equitable, peaceful and just future through our Greens movement for all South Australians.

Bringing care into the heart of parliament

In all my work, I lead with empathy, kindness, and people at the centre, building up and creating capacity in those around me. I have strong career experience capably leading diverse, multi-disciplinary teams.

As an experienced leader who has undertaken Leadership Institute of SA training, I understand how to navigate tough situations with care, clarity and people at the centre.

I’m proudly neurodivergent, and through my own lived experience, understand how important it is to stand up for inclusivity and accessibility, pushing to meet the needs of everyone regardless of who you are.

I am focussed on bringing community together, founding and chairing a local community garden, supporting community and council to get on board to bring our project to life.

I’m proud to work closely as council liaison with the Marion Youth Collective Council and to amplify their voices in council and beyond.

I have taken a key role in council to advocate in Reconciliation Action Planning, pushing for an Aboriginal flag in chamber, and supporting First Nations land management and for community control of Kaurna Land.

My real-world grassroots lived experience brings a genuine, new perspective, adding diversity to our Greens representation in South Australia.

Black By-Election

A great result for the Greens in Black

As your Greens candidate in the recent Black by-election, I had the opportunity to demonstrate my ability to lead positive, grassroots campaigns that engage our community, support our incredible volunteers, and bring people together alongside us in our movement.

Results in Black show a strong swing to the Greens in a traditionally Liberal-held electorate, showing that I’m able to appeal to a wide range of voters. I was fortunate to have built familiarity with South Australians through good media and social media coverage during the campaign in the face of heavy campaigning by the major parties, supported by my skills speaking confidently and persuasively in media interviews.

Testimonials

What I’ll Fight For

As your Greens number 2 candidate for the Legislative Council, I’ll bring integrity, accountability, and tenacity to build on our strong Greens policies and initiatives. Key areas I’m passionate about are:

Climate action and renewable energy

SA leads in renewables, but we need to go further, faster. I want to:

  • ban black roofs on new builds to reduce urban heat island effects.
  • push for reinvestment in public renewables infrastructure by supporting a state owned Virtual Power Plant (VPP), ensuring that government owned infrastructure is equipped with solar panels and batteries, and providing more community-owned solar, battery and wind projects, especially in regional SA.
  • phase out new gas connections with a comprehensive, contemporary and evidence-informed Gas Substitution Roadmap.
  • improve public transparency around carbon accounting and prevent greenwashing.
  • provide support to make EVs more affordable to economically disadvantaged communities, promote vehicle to grid technology, and enhance EV charging infrastructure.

Affordable housing and renters’ rights

We need homes for people, not profit. I’ll push for:

  • capping rent increases.
  • more affordable and public homes.
  • climate-resilience and energy efficiency in buildings

Public transport and liveable cities

Public transport and liveable cities: Car dependency is high and regional transport is poor. I want to improve this through:

  • universal 50 cent fares
  • expanding rail services statewide, starting with Mt Barker
  • building more bus shelters to protect users from heat and rain
  • establishing safer cycling and walking infrastructure.

Biodiversity and tree protection

SA’s unique ecosystems are under threat. I want to:

  • push to protect nature through improving tree protection laws
  • strengthen the current Biodiversity Bill to enable absolute protection for biodiversity, ensure threatened species and critical habitats are effectively identified and protected, and make sure the new laws can’t be switched off or overruled by other laws.

Coastal futures

Let’s protect our coast for future generations. I’ll fight to:

  • protect our mangroves, dunes, reefs, hooded plovers and Port River dolphins
  • make the Great Australian Bight a world heritage area.
  • create integrated coastal protection, resilience and hazard adaptation plans
  • expand our marine parks.

Water security and River Murray protection

Healthy rivers, healthy SA. We need to:

  • secure the Murray with science by campaigning for SA’s fair share of environmental water
  • invest in recycled water for irrigation and other non-potable purposes
  • support wetland restoration
  • encompass First Nations-led water management.

Smarter waste systems for a more sustainable SA

I want to push to:

  • extend product stewardship to hold manufacturers accountable for the lifecycle of their packaging products
  • implement clear, mandatory standardised recycling labels to improve consumer clarity and reduce recycling contamination
  • enhance state laws to enable flexibility for green waste collection for councils

First Nations justice

Truth, Treaty and Voice are needed more than ever. I want to listen deeply and amplify First Nations voices across all areas, such as:

  • establishing a Treaty process in SA
  • implementing all recommendations from the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody
  • supporting First Nations-led conservation and land management.

Healthy communities

Mental health, domestic violence, disability and rural services are under-resourced. I want to:

  • prioritise early intervention services
  • invest in community mental health hubs across SA
  • improve disability inclusion
  • act on the upcoming findings of the Royal Commission into Domestic Violence due to be released in July.

Human rights

We need to enshrine equality into law and align with other states like Victoria, Queensland and the ACT by establishing a Human Rights Act to empower people to challenge human rights violations and hold public authorities accountable.

Saying no to nuclear waste

SA has been clear that we don’t want a nuclear waste dump and the Osborne community weren’t consulted.

I want to look at state legislation to assert SA’s rights in environmental protection and land use which could help challenge federal decisions that impact on local communities.

Support the Arts

We need to support our Arts community and build more opportunities for the Arts to flourish in South Australia.

“Nothing changes if nothing changes”

We have an opportunity here to make a real difference. With just a few thousand more votes, we’re capable of winning two Legislative Council positions. I am an experienced and successful candidate with real world current lived experience and legitimacy as an elected member and clinical psychologist.

I have on the ground, grassroots understanding of some of the most serious issues that face South Australians.

Let’s do this together. Through our Greens movement, we can make big changes for an even better, greener, liveable, inclusive, and sustainable South Australia.
